About Mari Miyoshi

Mari was born and raised in Kobe, Japan and moved to the U.S. when she was 8 years old. She began her career as an occupational therapist in 2001, working with children with various learning and developmental challenges in schools and sensory integration clinics. Through one of her classes in college, she found craniosacral therapy which piqued her curiosity about tissue memory and residual restrictions left in the body from traumatic experiences. She worked with clients who had experienced accidents and birth traumas, and found that when the body was compromised, it also affected the individual's brain and daily life functioning. She continued her study of craniosacral therapy beyond college and was amazed by the changes she experienced in her clients as well as herself when receiving this work.
As she continued to work with craniosacral therapy, the question arose as to why some people recovered/made changes quickly and others remained sick or in pain after months, and sometimes years of therapy. This exploration brought her to study Educational Kinesiology (Brain Gym®), which utilizes movement to change the brain and remove learning blocks. She realized that some individuals had blocks around their ability to heal because they didn't have access to the thinking habits of HOW to be a healthy person. The habitual thoughts and movement patterns that permeated their lives fostered a way of being that lead them to illness rather than health and ease.
She began to combine the physical and emotional benefits of craniosacral therapy with the neurological re-wiring of habits, movements and behaviors that happened with Brain Gym. The combination of these two modalities addressed each clients unique physical/mental/emotional/spiritual/behavioral needs and had a tremendous and lasting effect on the individual's life.
Mari feels fortunate to have been able to study with the creator of Brain Gym, Paul E. Dennison, as well as some of the forerunners in the field of educational kinesiology and primary developmental reflexes, such as Developmental Kinesiology founder Renate Wennekes, Svetalana Masgutova, (founder of Masgutova Method of neuro-sensorimotor-reflex integration) , Paula Oleska of Natural Intelligence Systems, Don Wetsel, Carol Ann Erickson, and Carla Hannaford, PhD.
Mari currently enjoys a bustling practice doing brain based coaching with individuals of all ages and abilities.
Ms. Miyoshi also teaches Brain Gym related workshops to corporations, private schools, therapists, teachers, parents, and other individuals who want to increase optimum functioning in their companies, their own lives as well as those of their clients'.
